Many of you are familiar with the patron saints. You might know St. Anthony, the patron saint of lost things or St. Christopher, the patron saint of travel. In times past it was the popes who would name the patron saints, but apparently now anyone can. So I did.

Not only did I name some patron saints, I also created vigil lights for these very special saints. The candles are made of pure beeswax and will glow through the red votive cup just as they do in the greatest cathedrals of the world.  And to add some special bling to these hallowed vigil lights I affixed the saint’s picture on the votive cup and surrounded it with a halo of gold glitter.  After all, saints deserve nothing but the best.

What would be a vigil light without a prayer?  I’ve taken care of that for you too.  The prayer to recite to the saint is on the opposite side of the votive cup for easy reference, in case you don’t memorize it.

Take a look for yourself.  The patron saints of Ladyhood have a valid place in the litany, but have nonetheless been left out.  They’re available to help you with your lady problems, or merely give you permission to laugh at the plights of womanhood.  They’re also available at my shop

As some of you may know Husby and I spent last weekend at the Chateau St. Croix Winery and Vineyard selling my wares at their Fall Festival.  The weather was absolutely perfect and people came to the festival by the thousands.   One of the most fun things to do when at an event like that is people watching.

I saw them from a distance, walking down the grassy aisle toward the music tent.  They were two ladies, same small stature.  They were in their eighties if they were a day and were spiffed up for their outing at the winery.  They both wore slacks (yes, when you’re in your eighties they’re called “slacks”) and identical sequined blouses.  They also sported identical, jet black beehive hairdos, puffed up to make their heads look much too large for their tiny bodies.  If they weren’t twins they were sisters very close in age.  I speculate they never married and still live in the house they in which they grew up.

They paid no attention to my booth, but I think they might have appreciated this ~

You can find this magnet in my Etsy shop in the Word To Live By Magnets section, or check out the sheet magnet tab at the top of this page. You’ll find the Sisters magnet there, along with tons of others.

I wonder which of those two old sisters was the bad one.

The busy season is upon me.  I know, because it’s dark before 9:00 p.m. and the blistering hot temperatures are starting to run out of steam.

I’ve been in the crafty business for a while now, and I’m still not used to the fact that I have to be ahead of the busy season.  That means thinking about Christmas in June.   That means getting seasonal products out for sale at least six weeks before the season is actually here.

This year I’m sort of getting the hang of it.  For instance, I’m going to be putting my Halloween bottle cap magnets in shops next week.  That includes my Etsy shop.  I’ll be listing them a little at a time throughout a couple of weeks.  They’re really cute!  Here’s a sample of what you’ll see:

Many of my holiday magnets are inspired by vintage post cards. Why not stop by the shop and check them out. If you’d like a bunch of them be sure to find the listing for six or twelve magnets of your choice and get a great deal.

Ever heard the phrase guilty pleasure?  Of course you have.  I’ll be you even have one or two.  Lately I’ve been hearing about TV shows being a guilty pleasure, mostly those reality shows like Real Housewives or The Bachelor.  To me there is nothing “real” about those types of shows and frankly I have no time for them.  My guilty pleasure is on another channel.

Every Saturday at 6:00 p.m. I tune into MeTV to watch something even more unreal than reality TV ~ the original Batman series.

Don’t judge me.

Totally unreal but more hysterical than you could ever imagine.  I remember watching Batman when I was a kid, but these days it’s even better because they show two episodes back-to-back.  The first episode ends with a cliffhanger and the conclusion immediately follows.  I don’t have to wait for a week to tune in “same Bat-time, same Bat-channel.”  What’s better than that?

I’ll tell you what’s better.  I offer some really fun Batman drink charms in my shop.  And not that angsty, dark Batman you see on the big screen these days ~ it’s the totally schmaltzy Batman of ’60s TV.  Because I love nostalgia.

Holy Merlot, Batman!

All of your favorites! Batman, Robin, Cat Woman, Joker, Penguin, & Riddler

It’s a little embarrassing to admit I spend Saturday nights with the Caped Crusaders. Maybe I’ve got a weird affinity for men in tights. Or a fascination with things like the Bat Computer, Bat Ropes, Bat Spray, and Bat Pills. Most likely I like to watch shows from my childhood and wonder how it is I turned out to be a functioning member of society growing up with such ridiculous influences.
