Circus Parade

Do you remember the circus parades?  Me neither.  They haven’t been around for a while, but I bet they were pretty spectacular.  When the circus was in town all the animals, clowns and performers would sashay down the streets enticing the town’s people to come to the big top for the greatest show on earth.

I thought about the circus parade when I was listing some new items in my Etsy shop.  I don’t have any ringmasters or clowns in the shop right now (hopefully in the future!), but the animals are kind of fun.  Take a look…

 

This is Eddie.  I love his little Shriner’s hat and dancing eyes. 

This is Dapper Cat.  He’s very serious with his cigar and top hat.

May I introduce Sir Chimp.  He’s got flowers for his date.

Happy Hippo loves to do a soft-shoe.  And those vertical stripes are very slimming.

Meet Butler Piggy.  He’s happy to serve a cocktail any time of day.

How’s that for a circus parade?!  Well, an animal parade at least.  They would all look charming on a refrigerator, don’t you think?

NaWhat?

It’s nearly mid-November.  You know what that means?  We’re halfway through NaNoWriMo and NaBloPoMo.  Don’t know what those are?  NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month, a challenge to write a 50,000 word novel(la) in the thirty days of November.  NaBloPoMo is National Blog Posting Month, a challenge to post one blog entry every day of November.  Guess what?  I’ve done neither.

I’ve had a problem with writing posts and also listing items in my Etsy shop.  I’m completely blocked.  Even with the two challenges of NaNoWriMo (something I’ve done in the past, but the story was pretty lame) and NaBloPoMo (never attempted) in front of me I’ve remained stuck.  That either means I’m really stuck, or the fact that a challenge is right in front of my face is just another reason for me to rebel and say NO!

Writing a novel in thirty days seems much less daunting to me.  One idea and run with it.  Coming up with a blog post every single day for thirty days means coming up with thirty different ideas.  Or else coming up with pretty pathetic posts.  For me, that is.  Lots of people do it successfully and keep the interest of their audience.  Also, I’m not one of those people who have blog posts banked up in my draft folder in their entirety or even partially written.  Plus, the acronym NaBloPoMo sounds kind of…dirty.  For any of you who know who my father-in-law was you’ll know why.  It’s embarrassing.

I’m going to try to do better by you, and most of all myself.  In the meantime be assured that I am being productive in other areas of my life.  Really.  I have.  You’ll have to trust me on this one.

Sisters

As some of you may know Husby and I spent last weekend at the Chateau St. Croix Winery and Vineyard selling my wares at their Fall Festival.  The weather was absolutely perfect and people came to the festival by the thousands.   One of the most fun things to do when at an event like that is people watching.

I saw them from a distance, walking down the grassy aisle toward the music tent.  They were two ladies, same small stature.  They were in their eighties if they were a day and were spiffed up for their outing at the winery.  They both wore slacks (yes, when you’re in your eighties they’re called “slacks”) and identical sequined blouses.  They also sported identical, jet black beehive hairdos, puffed up to make their heads look much too large for their tiny bodies.  If they weren’t twins they were sisters very close in age.  I speculate they never married and still live in the house they in which they grew up.

They paid no attention to my booth, but I think they might have appreciated this ~

Don’t Bug Me, I’ve Been Busy

All right, so I got off easy by creating only one post this week (besides this one).  It was a Wordless Wednesday too ~ what’s the effort in putting up a measly picture?  Don’t bug me, I’ve been busy.

1.  I’ve been failing miserably doing my best to get Halloween magnets up in my Etsy shop and in other assorted venues.  My goal was to have them set up six weeks before Halloween.  So far I’m a week behind.

2.  I had a certain medical procedure that required days of agonizing preparation but resulted in an excellent outcome and a most dreamy drug-induced sleep.

3.  It’s show time again and I’ve been packaging and labeling my little heart out.

Tomorrow I’ll be at the Chateau St. Croix Winery and Vineyard selling my wares.  It’s going to be a beautiful weekend, weatherwise.  Husby and I will be in our little booth, dancing to the music, visiting with our craft show friends, and have a sip or two of wine.  My favorite part of doing live shows is watching people’s reactions to my offerings.

When I’m done having fun at the winery I’ll have a few weeks to get ready for what will probably be the biggest and most demanding shows I’ve ever done.  We’ll talk more about that at another time.  For now I’m looking forward to a nice weekend after what has proven to be a very busy week.  Come on over to St. Croix Falls, WI and see me!

It looks like summer has finally arrived in Minnesota.  After months of gray, overcast days the lush green grass and foliage and vibrant flower blossoms are a welcome sight.

There’s an Etsy shop where you can get the freshness of summer blooms all year long.  MaryFosterCreative is filled with fine art flower and foliage photographs by Mary Foster.  Not only does she photograph nature’s beautiful works of art, she grows the blooms herself!
