The Day After

Christmas day has come and gone.  For some people that might be a relief, for others a day of mourning.  I hope those of you in the latter group know that the Twelve Days of Christmas are actually after Christmas, so party on.

I don’t have any pretty pictures or incredibly inspiring words to share today.  In fact I’m pretty blank.  There was a lot of hustle and bustle in the days preceding Christmas, and Christmas day was so exciting and fun and a very long day at that, so I’m pretty much just kicking back and basking in the afterglow.

I got a bunch of cool presents for Christmas and I’m happy to say I gave a few too.  It’s time to go through the gifts I received, one by one, and prepare the annual thank-you-note list and get busy writing those.  Do you send hand-written thank-you notes for gifts received?  I hope so, because I’m looking for some people to buy the blank note cards I’m adding to my shop in 2012.  I like writing a personal note and sending it in the mail more than sending e-mail thank-yous, especially when so much thought was given to the gift.  I also like getting nice notes in the mail ~ so refreshing when all I usually get is bills and junk mail.

For now I’m going to take advantage of a lazy day after much preparation and celebrating.  I hope you all had a Merry Christmas, and have big plans for the upcoming new year.  Time to open a fresh page in a life you love and deserve!

Make A Joyful Noise

One of the best things about Christmastime is the music.  Husby and I have been to two Christmas concerts this year.  The first was Katie McMahon’s Celtic Christmas.  It was such a relaxing and lovely concert featuring talented musicians and dancers honoring Celtic traditions.

The second is especially endearing as it features someone we know.  It used to feature two people we know but one of them graduated.  It’s the DeLaSalle Christmas concert ~ a majestic presentation by the choir, band, and orchestra of DeLaSalle High School.

I’m always so impressed with the talent of these young musicians. I’m equally impressed with the one man who takes charge of directing all three groups, the band, the choir, and the orchestra. He’s a man with a passion for music and getting young people excited about it, that’s for sure.

Every year they conclude the concert with a performance of Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus and invite anyone from the audience to join them to sing on stage to perform.  Some of them are alumni, some might be parents of the students who performed this piece at some point in their lives.  It’s a very impressive gathering, and they make a joyful noise.

This video was taken in 2008 when both of my most talented nephews, Paenney and Fojo, were in the band.  Three cheers for the baritone and saxophone and two guys who play them with gusto!

Boy, what a season I’m having! Things are buzzing at the Auntie B’s Wax World Headquarters with Christmas preparations, events, entertaining, and general festivities.

I’ve been so happy with the support I’ve been getting with my little business too ~ gratitude doesn’t begin to express how I feel these days.  The fun part about selling my wares this time of year is knowing some of them will be given as Christmas gifts.  That makes me feel just like one of Santa’s elves.

What’s going on in your part of the world these days? Baking? Shopping? Wrapping? Bah-Humbugging? I hope you’re not doing that last thing ~ unless you decide to have a great epiphany as a result of being visited by three spirits. Then you can Bah-Humbug all you want until Christmas Day. Better yet, get into that baking, shopping, and wrapping and you won’t have time to Bah-Humbug. And you’ll probably have that little song in your head: “Ho ho ho, ho ho ho, we are Santa’s elves…”
