Time To Catch Up

The last few days has been quite action-packed at the Auntie B’s Wax World Headquarters.  Actually, most of the action has taken place outside of headquarters, but very busy and demanding nonetheless.

I’ve been on the go since Thursday when I spent a couple of days at the hospital.  No, I wasn’t the patient, but I felt the pains and worry just the same.  Charlotte is finally home eating food that doesn’t make her want to cry and is on the road to healing her bionics.  I’m a little afraid of the day we’re back on the tennis court ~ she’ll surely run me ragged.

Saturday and Sunday was spent in Cannon Falls at the Wine and Art Festival.  What a wonderful event!  Husby and I set up our canopy and settled in to meet some new artisans and greet some old friends, as well as schmooze with the festival goers, who were all in jolly form despite the heat.  There will be more on that event in an upcoming post.

After dragging myself out of bed today at the cheerful hour of 5:15 a.m. I spent nine hours at the day job.  I found it difficult to focus but put my time in as required.  During my lunch break I took a field trip to the smarty phone store to have the guy tell me why my phone was frozen, unable to turn itself on despite my very forceful button pushing and harsh language.  He fixed me right up, but when I got home I had a lot of resetting to do.

I also did three loads of laundry.  Yes, three.

Yeah, that would be me.

It’s late now, past 10:00 p.m.  Oh, quit your giggling.  Tomorrow begins, as it did today, at 5:00 a.m., so it’s already over an hour past my bedtime.

I’m taking this week to regroup and get some stuff done.  How about you?  What’s on your docket this week?

Dream Date

Africa hot.  Yeah, that’s pretty much how it’s been around here the last couple of weeks.  When Husby and I came home from our mini-vacation in Door County we couldn’t believe how hot it was away from the lake breeze, and the heat has not relented since.

I’ve been thinking about our little getaway a lot and consider it a five-day date (even though there was some craft show working mixed in there).  What’s even better is considering the date within the five-day date.  The dream date.

My date awaits.

This is the pier right outside our favorite four-unit motel.  Lake Michigan spreads before it as far as the eye can see.  Such vastness is a setting for imagination, aspirations, and relaxed inhibitions.  Husby and I can sit on this pier for hours.

Drinking locally made wine out of plastic cups ~ doesn’t get any better than that.

The sun shone and the breeze off the lake was brisk.  We wore our long-sleeved shirts but felt all the glory of summertime.  As we watched the seagulls dive for their fishy snacks we reminisced about our childhoods and looked forward to our future.

As Hall and Oats said, “summer breeze, makes me feel fine.”

During these Africa hot days I can’t help but go back in my mind to our pier and feel the coolness of the lake and dream of the next time we return.

I spy with my little eye, something beginning with “T.”

No, it’s not a tree.

I spy with my little eye, something beginning with “B.”

Of course! You can see him nibbling away.

There’s no telling what I’ll see in my back yard. Not only are there turkeys and bunnies, but also hummingbirds, squirrels, and an occasional deer.

What do you see when you look out the window?

Husby and I recently took a road trip to Door County, Wisconsin. The sky was an interesting thing to watch along the way.

When we left Minnesota there were big, fluffy white clouds in a bright blue sky.

As we traveled along the cheerful white and blue sky turned kind of gray.

It looks like something threatening is headed our way!

Yep. There it is, and here it comes. We spent some time driving through rain.

When we reached Bailey’s Harbor we knew we’d found our pot of gold. The sun shone every day we were there.
