One night I was with some friends and we got to talking about the apocalypse. One friend talked about the Bible version, you know, with the four horsemen and all that. The rest of us were focused on the zombie apocalypse because we’re not as smart or holy as that other girl, but are very hip to pop culture. It’s all the rage, you know, the zombie apocalypse ~ the undead stalking humanity, eating brains and stuff ~ our friend was getting a little frustrated with our flippant view of the apocalypse. What frustrated me was that I couldn’t pronounce the word apocalypse. It kept coming out alpacalypse.
My muse took a liking to my mispronunciation. The zombie alpacalypse. Zombie alpacas. I love alpacas, and the thought of a zombie alpaca horrifies me. It’s sort of like those killer bunnies in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Gentle animals gone stark raving mad! Musie told me to run with it.
I don’t know if anyone else is as cracked-up with this weirdness as I am ~ after all it was inspired during an evening of much laughter and a little too much wine. But as you know, art (ha!) is at the mercy of the muse no matter when, where, or in what state of mind it strikes. And so my “art” was born.
Not only is this magnet displayed loudly and proudly on my refrigerator, I decided to put more like it up for sale in my Etsy shop on the off chance others have a fear or fascination with zombie alpacas. It’s all about sharing, you guys.
Happy weekend to you all.
I made a plush zombie alpaca once. https://www.etsy.com/transaction/111643798?
And I think it’s funny to wear this T-shirt sometimes when I do my barn chores with the real alpacas: https://www.threadless.com/product/5091/Alpacalypse
I see my Muse has been stealing ideas from others! And I thought she was so clever coming up with the zombie alpacalypse. Oh well. Love the links you sent, and save your brains!
Love it! So what do the zombie alpacas eat – llama brains? 🙂
Zombie alpacas eat anything they can catch. I’m not really sure how fast they can run, but if they’re anything like human zombies they’re pretty slow. ACK!
Oh Sara I will have nightmares after seeing this one. How many wines did you say you had? Anyway I agree about following a hunch, but I think you should have a line about the alpacas world domination. You do have a mind full of surprises and there is no telling where your art may take you. Are you going to write a horror story to go with it?
Nightmares? I think not. You’re just being kind, because I could only hope to horrify people into having nightmares.
There were many wines had during the conversation about the apocalypse – with a conversation like that I need some help. Lucky for me Musie was participating too! I’m not going to write a horror story to go with the image – perhaps I should leave that to you? How would that topic go with the children’s stories? Scare them out of their wits!
Thanks for coming to the other side of the world to visit, Kath!
I think zombie alpacas may be a little spooky to the kindy’s Sara but some of the children’s shows I watch today are a bit weird. Maybe thats just that gap widening between me and my tweens. Have a great day minus any zombies lol.
Zombie alpacas had me giggling like a little girl. I wish there was a funny apocalypse story featuring this awesome idea. No one would see that one coming. I think I would pass out from laughing rather than in fright.
Zombie alpacas would make an interesting story, that’s for sure. I can see a zombie apocalypse movie spoof using alpacas. Maybe I should start writing a screenplay!
Thanks for visiting, and beware the alpacas – they might chew your face off!
