March 31st brought sunshine and warm (60 degrees F) weather. It was absolutely glorious.
April 1st opened with a below-freezing temperature (30 degrees F) and a layer of ice on everything we had to walk and drive on.
By mid morning the snow began to fall and the wind began to blow. Hard.
At 2:00 p.m. the sun came out and the temperature got up to 40 degrees F.
Today is April Fool’s Day. Yeah. Good one, Mother Nature. Way to take away our springtime. Way to tease us with the sunshine. Way to announce “April Fool!” through the voice of a howling wind.
I’m not amused.
And now those who have your personal number tell us we’re in for four to eight inches of snow by the weekend?
Mother Nature, you’re either very cruel or possessed by the devil.
I think I’ll get possessed to book the next flight to Hawaii.

I’m not really going to go to Hawaii. Not now at least. I guess I’m a fool. An April Fool. image via http://viterbinotes.usc.edu/
Jedi response – “Who is more foolish – the fool or the fool that follows it?” Translation: Have we been April fooled by Mother Nature or are we just natural fools because we live in Minnesota?! Ha, ha!
Oh MaryAnn, you’re so wise. As tiresome as this is getting, I still wouldn’t live anywhere but Minnesota. I remember last summer and how hot it was. Hot. Like, really, really hot. I remember thinking how we’ll want hot days like that when winter comes. We get it all here in Minnesota, hot, cold, and everything in between. What I need most of all is the stamina to wait out the extremes. Because the next extreme will come…eventually.
I love what MaryAnn says…..we are all fools lol why do we expect mother nature to care?? Hold in there, soon I will be reading about your sunny weather and long afternoon BBQ’s for sure. Raining here mother nature is being kind to the farmers this autumn.
Kath, you keep saying you’ll be reading about sunny weather and flowers and buzzing bees, but I’m losing confidence that it will ever happen. I feel like I live in Siberia.
The seasons are trying to turn on your end of the world too, only opposite of mine. I’m glad the farmers are getting what they need, and I hope your winter comes and goes gracefully, unlike the one Minnesota this year.
As I write this response I’m looking out the window at a fresh 10-12 inches of snow (24-30 cm). It’s April, for crying out loud!
