NaNoWriMo began nearly twelve hours ago. I’m pumped. Of course if I’m writing a novel my other writing venues (this blog) might have to suffer, but I can’t say for sure. If it does suffer it will be a martyr sacrificing itself for a grand piece of literature. My little blog understands, and I hope its readers do too.
For the next thirty days I’ll be developing a story that has been in my head for a while. I don’t really know how it will turn out, but the end will become clearer with every hour I spend writing it. If you’re interested in my progress I’ll have a word-count thingy on my sidebar. The goal is to complete a 50,000-word novel with a beginning, middle and end, in thirty days.
Can she do it? Will she have a severe case of writer’s block that drives her to ingest massive quanities of chocolate? Will she become the next J. K. Rowling? Stay tuned and find out!
Good luck! This is a project I’m saving for retirement which is unfortunately 20 years ahead of me. But one year I will do it!
Im with you Sara lets go!
Thanks for the enouragement you guys! Lucie, there’s no time like the present. Still plenty of time to jump on board! Kath, hang on, here we go!
Of course you can do it! I’m writing a novel and I haven’t reached the end, but am up to over 90,000 words! I wish I could do it all in 50,000! 😉
You don’t need the push of NaNoWriMo, obviously. Good for you! The object is to get at least 50,000 words, but it can go over that. The other object is to be able to get a beginning, middle, and end finished in 30 days.
It’s going okay for me so far. Except it kind of stinks. If I think the story is worthwhile I’ll spend a bit of time editing.
Good luck with your writing adventures!
And good luck with yours. I used to edit along the way. With this book, I decided to try something different and just write, knowing that I’d get my chance to edit after the first horrible draft was finished. It is rather liberating… 😉
Thanks, Lorna. It seems a bit of a mish-mash right now. I’m trying to keep the story in a chronological line but even that is proving to be difficult. But I’m having fun and I think this is probably the better way to write anyway. Spill it all out and muddle through it later. Whee!
