The busy season is upon me. I know, because it’s dark before 9:00 p.m. and the blistering hot temperatures are starting to run out of steam.
I’ve been in the crafty business for a while now, and I’m still not used to the fact that I have to be ahead of the busy season. That means thinking about Christmas in June. That means getting seasonal products out for sale at least six weeks before the season is actually here.
This year I’m sort of getting the hang of it. For instance, I’m going to be putting my Halloween bottle cap magnets in shops next week. That includes my Etsy shop. I’ll be listing them a little at a time throughout a couple of weeks. They’re really cute! Here’s a sample of what you’ll see:
Many of my holiday magnets are inspired by vintage post cards. Why not stop by the shop and check them out. If you’d like a bunch of them be sure to find the listing for six or twelve magnets of your choice and get a great deal.
“Like” me on Facebook or follow me on Twitter to get all the up-to-the-minute listings.
These are adorable, Sara!
Thanks, Cindy!
SO sweet! I don’t know about you, but I only get the urge to do crafty things when the temps cool down. Maybe that’s because I work with fabric…
For me I must do crafty things even though I don’t have the “urge.” It has become a little business that I must keep going. It’s part of the retirement supplement plan, which I wish to put into full effect within four years. Idle hands are the devil’s workshop, you know. 🙂
My hands are rarely idle, which must really tick off the Devil! I couldn’t stand the pressure of having to create on a schedule. Some days I just don’t feel up to it.
I hear you there. That’s why I’m behind schedule sometimes. Luckily more often than not I don’t mind creating to meet deadlines because I don’t dread the work. But yes, some days I don’t feel up to it either. What kind of projects do you do with fabric?
Small projects–landscapes, still lives, purses, shopping totes, place mats and runners, wall-hangings. I used to do bed-sized quilts, but they are too over-whelming for me now.
I sew like a drunk person and admire anyone who can sew a straight line. Good luck with your future projects!
Thanks! Have you seen some of my work? If not, search my blog for “fabric art.” I’ve posted at least a couple of posts displaying my creations.
Hey, I checked out some of your fabric art. Sensational! You really have a gift!
You are an artist, Sara! Good job! These are really cute. Good luck during the busy season.
Thank you, Kathy, although I wouldn’t consider myself an “artist.” More like a crafty person. It’s nice to earn a little money doing something I like, unlike the case at my day job. However, my business doesn’t provide free medical insurance like my day employer does, so I’m stuck for now. Counting down the few years I have left for early retirement!
